I am happy to share an article I wrote which was recently published in the Winter 2026 edition of the newsletter of the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers’ Association.
In keeping with the packaging theme of this newsletter issue, the article traces the history and changes in the paper labels used by members of the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers’ Association in their first fifty years of existence.
Paper labels for bottle and metal cans were the standard labelling method before the introduction of color painted cans in the 1950s and plastic containers in the 1970s. You can read a PDF of the article at this link or by clicking on the above image of the first page of the article.
