I am happy to share the publication of an article I wrote on the rediscovery of a forgotten early 20th century maple syrup processing building from the townsite of Horseshoe in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. This article appeared July 15, 2026 on the Adirondack Almanack website.

This modern history of the Syrup House from the townsite of Horseshoe is a continuation of the story of the Horse Shoe Forestry Company and its operation of the world’s largest maple syrup operation in the 1890s and early 1900s. To read more about the history of Horse Shoe Foresty Company, check out these links to a two-part article I co-authored and published in 2023. Part One – Part Two.
Great story! It is refreshing to see the care that Yankees take with important pieces of physical history. This is information and details that warms my heart in an otherwise modern era in America of tearing down old things to make way for new, and (I think) less valuable developments. Keep up the good work!
