I am happy to share my latest maple history contribution titled “A Tale of Three Cities: The Origins and Early History of the Vermont Maid Brand of Blended Syrup,” which was published in the 2026 volume of Vermont History. Vermont History is the peer-reviewed journal of the Vermont Historical Society. You can read a PDF of the article at this link or by clicking on the adjacent image of the article.
This article tells the story of the formation and early years of the Vermont Maid syrup company. Vermont Maid was the largest blended syrup maker in the northeastern U.S. at a time when blended syrups utilized a significant portion of the maple syrup supply and were very influential in the maple industry as a whole.
